Snow Fun.

A snow Quinzee with a log fire. The Quinzee is a survival snow shelter used in Scandanavia where the snow is too powdery to make an igloo. My youngest Daughter Laurel, who was 10 at the time, and I constructed this in Buttermere 2008. The aim is to pile up snow and trample it until it is compacted and then carve out the room inside, the log was split 4 ways and lit so you can heat water on it without the fire being put out by the melting snow.

Eskimo Joe constructed in Buttermere in 2008 by myself and Laurel. We got bored with making normal snowmen! Joe was 7ft tall and peered over the hedge at passing travellers.
